“We read to know we are not alone.” – C.S. Lewis

We believe everyone should have access to books, so this Little Book Stop is here for all the community to use. We encourage you to take books and add books, especially children’s books, and books in languages other than English.

By sharing our stories, knowledge and experience, we can help each other understand the world a little better.

The Little Book Stop is managed by Tredworth Residents Association. It was donated by Penguin Books and Little Free Library. It is also an official BookCrossing Zone.

Want to see where your books go? Register your books at BookCrossing.com, label them with unique tracking numbers (that the website provides), then release them here for others to find, read and pass along to others.

When someone finds a book you’ve registered and makes a journal entry on the website, you get an email notification. You can follow your books’ journeys through the world, and the lives they touch, forever!

Tredworth Residents Association is proud to announce the installation of a brand-new Penguin Little Book Stop in the heart of Tredworth. The colourful free book exchange, designed in Penguin’s iconic style, offers local residents the chance to borrow, share, and donate books – all at no cost.

To celebrate their 90th anniversary, Penguin Books have partnered with the non-profit Little Free Library to launch 90 Little Book Stops around the UK. It’s part of a growing national initiative to make reading more accessible, encourage the love of books, and create spaces where communities can connect. By bringing books directly into the neighbourhood, the Tredworth Little Book Stop will provide easy access to reading material for people of all ages, from children discovering their first stories to adults rediscovering the joy of reading.

Tredworth Residents Association committee member Alison Thompson said: “We’re delighted to bring this free lending library to Tredworth. Over 2000 applications were received for 90 Penguin Little Book Stops and we are thrilled to have been successful. It’s such a simple but powerful way to share stories, encourage literacy, and create a sense of community. We hope it becomes a much-loved feature for everyone in the area.”

Located outside OneStop on High Street, next to the community noticeboard, the project reflects Tredworth Residents Association’s ongoing commitment to enhancing local life and creating opportunities for residents to come together. As well as providing free books, the Little Book Stop will serve as a focal point for community spirit, encouraging conversations, connections, and the sharing of ideas.

Tredworth Residents Association invites everyone to make use of the new book stop – whether by borrowing a book, donating a favourite read, or simply stopping by to see what treasures are waiting to be discovered. Everyone is welcome to borrow books and leave book for others, and they especially encourage people to share books in languages other than English.
